President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Deividas Matulionis, Lithuanian Ambassador to Germany.
According to the President, Germany is one of the most important international partners of Lithuania. It is a founder and a major member state of the European Union, therefore our bilateral cooperation becomes particularly significant in the light of Lithuania’s forthcoming Presidency of the EU Council.
Lithuania and Germany share common views in terms of responsible and effective use of the public funds.
Relationship with Germany is also important for Lithuania in implementing the EU internal energy market policy and in negotiations on the new financial framework of the European Union.
Deividas Matulionis in the course of his diplomatic career served in Lithuania’s representations in Estonia, Norway and Denmark as well as in various divisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since 2009, he has been Chancellor of the Prime Minister.
